Clover mites are tiny, harmless-but-maddening red pests that invade homes by the hundreds in spring and fall — and leave a red stain if you crush them.
Smaller than a pinhead, bright red to reddish-brown, with a distinctive long pair of front legs. Often seen swarming on sunny windowsills, siding, and around the foundation.
What attracts them: Lush, well-fertilized lawns and vegetation right up against the foundation, plus warm, sunny exterior walls.
